Description: The Era House - Built by Raja Kaimal of the Thainadam Family more than 120 years ago, the Era House is a one of a Padipurra (7 houses). Traditionally built for the women in the family this house was built with four entrances, known as Nalukett and opens out to an open courtyard. The rich paddy fields extending more than 10 kilometers away from Changanacherry to Alleppey and the country boats were all owned by the affluent Brahmins and Nairs of that era. This house owned by Thangaraj Kaimal of the fifth generation of the family has been lovingly recreated room by room. Authentic wood paneling, courtyards, coconut trees and sea breeze makes this house a perfect getaway - a home away from home. Description: The Poovarani House - The beautifully restored Poovarani House was once owned by an aristocratic Catholic plantation family almost 90 years ago. Built with meticulous attention to detail by Devassla Onda of Pattermadom, this is a standing example of houses from the Poovarani Village in Meenachil Taluk, Kottayam. Comfortable and completely furnished the Poovarani house is reminiscent of the era with its intricate architectural detailing, wide open verandahs and common courtyard.
